FAQs



What is the Admission Process?
The first step in the admission process is to register your ward by completing and submitting the online Registration Form. The forms are available online only. Kindly check the "Admissions" link for more information.

When does the registration process begin?
The registration process for an upcoming academic year starts during the second term of the current academic year. Parents will be informed about the next steps of the admission process once they have registered.

When does the registration process end?
All details regarding the registration and admission process will be mentioned on our website under the Guidelines page once the process is underway.

What levels are admissions open for?
Admissions are usually open only for Montessori-1, KG-1 and Grade 11.

Are admissions open at KG-2?
Registration for admission to KG-2 is not being offered as there are no vacancies at this level. We do not anticipate any vacancies for the upcoming academic year.

Are admissions open at Grade 1?
Registration for admission to Grade 1 is not open as there are usually no vacancies at Grade 1. The entry level at the school is either Montessori-1 or KG-1 only.

Are admissions open at Grades 2 to 9?
Registrations for admission to Grades 2 to 9 are offered only when there are vacancies at these levels. We do not anticipate any vacancies for the upcoming academic year.

Are admissions open at Grade 10?
The school does not accept admissions at Grade 10.

Are admissions open at Grade 12?
The school does not accept admissions at Grade 12.

What is the age criteria for admission at Montessori-1 and KG-1?
For registrations to Montessori - 1, the child must have attained the age of 3 years by 1st June of the year of admission. For registrations to KG - 1, the child must have attained the age of 4 years by 1st June of the year of admission. This will ensure that the children are of the right age as per statutory norms when they enter Grade 1, which is 6 years as on 1st June of the year of entering Grade 1.

What happens when the child is only a few days short of the age criterion?
Since the child is expected to have completed 6 years as on 1st June as per government norms to be admitted to Grade 1, we regret to inform you that the school cannot accept or process registration forms in these cases. Following the age guideline will ensure that there are no complications in the future.

Are there are any entrance tests for admission to Montessori or KG-1?
There are no entrance tests conducted for admissions at Montessori or KG levels.

Is the child expected to know English at the time of admission to Montessori or KG-1?
Children are not expected to be fluent in or know English at the time of admission to Montessori or KG-1. Parents are strongly encouraged to speak to children in their mother tongue or any language they are comfortable in so as to develop social and communication skills in their child.

What is the student strength in a class?
NPS believes in working with a small number of students in a class to ensure an individualised teaching-learning environment. Every class has a strength of about 30 students.

Can we visit the school campus?
We regret to inform you that the school does not permit campus visits for parents due to security reasons.

What are the school timings?
Montessori – 1 9:15 AM to 12:30 PM
Kindergarten – 1 and Montessori – 2 8:10 AM to 12:30 PM
Kindergarten – 2 and Montessori – 3 8:10 AM to 2:00 PM
Grade – 1 onwards 8:10 AM to 3:20 PM

There is a short break of 10 minutes in the morning. Lunch break is for 25 minutes.

What are the Language options offered by the school?
NPS offers multiple options for languages to students. Students need to choose a Language option from Grade 1.

  • All students are expected to learn Kannada either as second or third language option till Grade 8 as per the government rules.
  • The school offers Hindi or Kannada as a Second Language for students between Grades 1 and 5.
  • Students should choose a third language at Grade 3.
  • From Grade-6 onwards, the school offers Hindi, Kannada, Sanskrit or French. Students can switch to Sanskrit or French at Grade 6 only if they have taken the respective language as a 3rd language earlier.

Grades 3 to 8 Third Language Hindi / Kannada / Sanskrit / French

In addition to these, we offer French as a spoken language for all students starting from Grade 1. This subject is not assessed for a grade.

What is the syllabus that is followed at school?
NPS is an academically rigorous school that follows the CBSE curriculum from Grade 1 to 12.

What streams are offered at Grades 11-12?
We offer only Science streams in the following two combinations at Grade 11. 1.Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology 2.Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Computer Science

Are Arts or Commerce streams offered at Grades 11-12?
NPS Yelahanka offers only science at Grades 11 and 12 and does not offer Commerce or Arts.

What is the syllabus for the entrance tests?
The entrance tests are based on the current grade level the child is studying. Entrance tests are only diagnostic in nature. Admission is not based solely on the performance of the student in the entrance tests. An equal weightage is also given to the past performance of the student and the aptitude of the student through an interaction process.

Please note that the school does not send a regret letter or email in case the school is unable to offer admission after registration.
