Academic Curriculum

Co-curricular

For a holistic development of a child, there is a need of emotional, physical, spiritual and moral development that is complemented and supplemented by co- curricular activities.

At NPS, academic excellence and co-curricular activities go hand in hand.

Through various co-curricular pursuits such as dance, music, painting, quiz, debates, yoga, sports, art and craft - children develop the skills of leadership and teamwork. Students are encouraged to actively take part in intra-school and inter-school competitions.

Sports and Games

Sport is an integral part of the curriculum at NPS, Yelahanka.

Football, basketball, volleyball, throw ball and cricket are taught by our coaches during the Physical Education sessions. The students are also exposed to athletics.

Yoga

We at NPS Yelahanka have Yoga as an integral part of the schedule at school. We believe that students, especially at the higher classes are going through conflicting emotions and different levels of stress. Yoga helps children reduce stress, cope with difficult emotions and calm their mind. Children who are exposed to yoga earlier in life are able to better control their emotions as adults. The breathing exercises and simple yoga techniques help in optimum blood circulation which keeps the student energetic throughout the day helping them to concentrate better and have more mental focus. Yoga helps improve inner strength, patience and builds confidence in them.

Other than it being a part of the regular time table for all students, we also have regular Yoga assemblies every Wednesday.

Annual Events

To enrich the learning experience in both Scholastic and Co-scholastic areas, NPS Yelahanka gives opportunity for the students to showcase their talents by conducting events like

  • Science Fest
  • Cultural Fest
  • Sports Fest

One of these events will be held annually.

Hobby Classes

Hobbies break up routines and challenge everyone in new ways, ways that are different from work, ways that are positive. It provides an excellent outlet for challenging yourself without the negative stress that comes from a study related activity. The new challenge can also open a child's mind to new ways of seeing the world.

There have been instances where hobbies have led to significant developments beyond the personal fulfilment for those involved. Hobbies promote Eustress, which is a positive kind of stress, the kind that makes you feel excited about what you're doing in your regular life.

We at NPS have the following activities as part of our Hobby Club and Co-Curricular Activities:
  • Contemporary Dance/ Drama
  • Western and Indian Music
  • Art

All students have a weekly Art, Music, and Dance class as part of their regular time table.
